First Nine-weeks emails- Important dates are at the bottom!
. Monday, August 9, 2021, Math: Our introduction and "get to know me" day Science: Tuesday, August 10, 2021, Math: We looked at the multiplication algorithm. Science: We talked about structures. Wednesday, August 11 2021, Math: More multiplying, both algorithm and the area model. Science: We will do the spaghetti tower challenge. Thursday, August 12, 2021, Math: Yet more multiplication. We will practice both styles. If you want to give your kiddies a quick quiz, as them to multiply 358 times 42 using both the algorithm and the area model. Science: We will look at structures, and discuss the things that make them strong. We talked about the structures we built, and discussed the challenges of building a strong structure. Friday, August 13, 2021, Math: We will quiz over multiplication. Today's quiz will be using the algorithm (how we learned it as kids). Science: We discussed structures, and how their shape and materials impact strength. Monday, August 16, 2021 Math: Started division today (yeah!!!!). Science: Began states of matter. Tuesday, August 17, 2021 Math: Continued division, looked at two-digit divisors and the area model. Science: Looked at the characteristics of different states of matter. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 Math: More division with whole numbers. Two-digit divisors and the area model. Science: Properties of matter. DENSITY is the characteristic of the day. Thursday, August 19, 2021 Math: Completed "Division Practice 2" in Classkick Science: Completed States of Matter exercise. Friday, August 20, 2021 Math: Completed part one of our review for Tuesday's division quiz. Science: Observed dry ice in all its glory. Saw sublimation first hand. Monday, August 23, 2021 Math: Reviewed for tomorrow's division quiz. Science: Looked at physical vs. chemical changes. Tuesday, August 24, 2021 Math: Took division quiz. Science: Began looking at solutions. Wednesday, August 25, 2021 Math: Began decimals and transformation between standard form (numbers), models (grids filled in partially), and word form (the written form of the number. Science: More solutions and mixtures. Thursday, August 26, 2021 Math: Yet more decimal transformation.we are looking at a quiz next Tuesday. There is an activity on Classkick called Decimal Place Value 1 and Decimal Place Value 2 that the kids can try for practice. Science. Solutions and mixtures yet again. Monday, August 30, 2021 Math: Looked at place value and did a quiz review. It's on Classkick if you want to take a look at it. Science: We started an experiment. Salt DOES NOT dissolve as quickly as we thought in water! Tuesday, August 31, 2021 Math: We took the place value quiz, comparing and ordering starts tomorrow. Science: We discussed our salt dissolving experiment. Tuesday, September 7, 2021 Math: Prepared for quiz, send a study guide home as an email attachment. Science: Worked on Mixtures and solutions for a little bit. Wednesday, September 8, 2021 Math: Took our comparing and rounding place values quiz. Science: Looked at the impact of plastics on our lives. Friday, September 10, 2021 Math: Began review for Tuesday's mid chapter test. Science: Made some elephant's toothpaste, and discussed chemical reactions. Monday, September 13, 2021 Math: Worked on review for the mid-chapter test. The test will be postponed until Wednesday, September 15. Science: looked at chemical change, and what makes a change a chemical or physical change. Wednesday, September 15, 2021 Math: Took mid-chapter test Science: Went further into chemical vs physical reactions. Concentrated on conservation of matter. Thursday, September 16, 2021 Math: Began adding and subtracting decimals. Science: Began review of matter, its states, and combinations. We will test Monday. Wednesday, September 22, 2021 Math: none, we will quiz tomorrow Science: Properties of matter experiment Thursday, September 23, 2021 Math: Took addition and subtraction of decimals quiz. Science: Discussed yesterday's experiment, and got into force (Newton's laws of motion) Friday, September 24, 2021 Math: Began decimal multiplication Science: More force and direction. Monday, September 27, 2021 Math: Multiplying decimals. worked on models today. Science: Force and motion. Tuesday, September 28, 2021 Math: More multiplying decimals, quiz Friday Science: Force and motion featuring LeBron James and Issac Newton. No, they did not go one on one. Wednesday, September 24, 2021 Math: More decimal multiplication. Science: More Lebron, more force. September 10/10 Freedom Walk October 10/6- picture money due 10/7 Fun Run |
